TransQuote is a smileware, which means you get it for a smile. ;-)

TransQuote is a small web application. Once installed on your website, it allows a potential customer to get a rough quote online, right then and there. Visitors come and go on your site, looking for translation services. How do you sell to them? An online quote calculator is a good way to get their attention and get them to actually consider using your services.

It collects information on potential *direct customers*, so that you can contact them later and offer your services.

This quote calculator allows your visitors to enter some text or an URL, and gives them immediately an rough quotation (based on the word count and your rates). It also collects and sends you their names and email, so that you can contact them later.

TransQuote is entirely free (except you will owe someone a smile).

*Of course, if you don't have a website, this is totally useless

Your host must support PHP, and that's about it. If you wish to receive email notifications, the mail() function must be activated. (which is usually the case). In case your host doesn't support php or it doesn't work for some weird reason, I can set it up for you on my website (your design, your rates & contact, ..., all you have to do is to link to the page and your visitors won't see the difference.)

This application consists of 2 files:

• transQuote.php (or a variant) and
• QuoteAdmin.php

transQuote.php is the application proper, and QuoteAdmin.php is a password protected log file. To work, these 2 files must be in the same folder.

If you are somewhat familiar with PHP and webpages in general, open transQuote.php and follow the comments to edit the settings (language pairs, rates,...). Copy/paste everything in one of your webpages, fix the format a bit as needed. Upload both files, test, and add some links to it. Done.

On the other end, if you need detailed explanations, download the documentation. No knowledge of PHP is required to install or use this application. None whatsoever. So if you are not to familiar with Web development, relax. It really is quite simple.

If you run into trouble, register (free - top left corner of any page) and send a support request. I will help you out as much as I can.

Pick a theme to match your website. "Preview" opens a new window*.

Feel free to change the look as you want. Those "themes" are just some examples of what you can do by changing a few colors or adding a background image. If nothing here fits your design, change it. Note that this code is protected by copyright. Please have a look at the "Smileware" section for more data on what you can or can not do with this code.

*Requires JavaScript. If JavaScript is disabled, preview won't work.

If you have a problem installing/using TransQuote, contact me and I will do my best to help you out.

If you can't work it out, or if the design doesn't fit in your website and you don't know how to integrate it (after a fair try), I may be able to fit it in and do it for you when I have time. You will need to register first (Free).

The data I need are:

1. Info on PHP support from your host.
   Uncompress and upload this small file on your website.
2. Config info #1 to #8, as per the install instructions (email, language pairs, rates,...)
3. Your website address

If you *need* me to upload it for you, give me your ftp account details. They will be kept strictly confidential, of course.

TransQuote may be free, but that doesn't mean you are on your own.

This is a smileware, which means you can use it for a smile. Smile to a stranger, smile to a friend, or send me a smile by email, your choice. A smile is all it costs, but DO go out and find someone to smile to.

I figure life would be nicer if people smiled more to each other and that's what I ask in exchange for the right to use this small application.

There is a strict "No questions asked" refund policy: If you are not fully satisfied, you can get your smile back. ;-)

Please feel free to change the code or the design as much as you want, providing that the copyright notice at the bottom of the file remains unchanged. You can redistribute the code as long as it remains unchanged and that you mention where you got it from.

However, you can not claim authorship or sell this code.
